FDA has extended the period to submit comments regarding the New Dietary Ingredient Notification Guidance by 60 days, to December 2, 2011.
 
Industry groups began calling for an extended comment period shortly after the agency issued its draft guidance in July.
 
In its announcement extending the comment period, FDA said “The Agency is taking this action in response to a request for an extension to allow interested persons additional time to submit comments.”
 
Electronic or written comments must be submitted by December 2, 2011. Electronic comments can be submitted through this website: http://www.regulations.gov.
 
Written comments should be addressed to the Division of Dockets Management (HFA-305), Food and Drug Administration, 5630 Fishers Lane, rm. 1061, Rockville, MD  20852. All comments should be identified with the following docket number: FDA-2011-D-0376.
